We are thrilled to announce the launch of the AI Ethics course, developed as part of the DIVERSIFAIR Erasmus+ Project — a European initiative focused on advancing intersectional fairness in AI systems. As a proud partner in this project, Women in AI is excited to share this important milestone with our community.
Why This Course Matters
AI is rapidly shaping industries and societies, and as its impact grows, the need for inclusive, ethical, and fair AI systems becomes more critical. This course offers an opportunity for professionals to gain insight into AI ethics, understand the role of fairness, and develop practical tools to contribute to more equitable outcomes in AI systems.
This programme provides foundational knowledge and practical approaches to help professionals navigate and address biases in AI — ultimately contributing to more just and equitable AI systems.
Course PROGRAMME
The AI Ethics Course is designed for data professionals with at least one year of experience in coding-based roles. Whether you are an engineer, analyst, or product builder, this course will provide you with the frameworks and skills needed to think critically about fairness in AI.
The curriculum is structured into four comprehensive modules:
01. Foundational Concepts of Fairness in AI
Get a clear introduction to the ethics of AI. You will explore how fairness is defined, where challenges arise, and how to evaluate systems using metrics and an audit framework.
02. Technical Approaches to Fairness
Learn how to reduce unfair outcomes using proven techniques. You will explore fairness interventions at the data, model, and prediction levels — and apply a practical framework to guide your work.
03. Emerging Fairness Frontiers and Implementation Strategies
Understand how fairness applies in large-scale AI systems, including Large Language Models (LLMs). You will learn how to integrate fairness across the ML lifecycle, manage organizational responsibilities, and align with governance practices.
04. Specialisation — Practical Fairness for Data Scientists
Apply fairness in your real-world workflows: model training, deployment, and monitoring. You will work through best practices and implementation challenges — with support from expert mentors.
The course was developed by Turing College, with contributions from the DIVERSIFAIR partners, whose expertise shaped the ethical and intersectional foundations of the curriculum.
